Congress nominee in Odisha arrested for assault

Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), May 17: Congress candidate Saka Sujit Kumar from Digapahandi Assembly constituency in Odisha’s Ganjam has been apprehended on charges of assaulting a builder.

Reports from the police indicate that three individuals, including Sudhansu Sangram Padhy, a builder from Sihala, were assaulted by unidentified individuals while they were engaged in work at a site in Kukudakhandi near Berhampur police station on Wednesday.

Subsequently, as Padhy and his associates were en route to the police station to file a complaint, the Congress candidate purportedly launched an attack on them.

Following a formal complaint, police authorities on Thursday arrested Kumar along with his associate, K Amit Kumar, according to PTI sources.

Both Kumar and Padhy are involved in the real estate sector, prompting speculation that professional rivalry may have triggered the altercation.
