CM Mohan Majhi Urges Odias to Wear Handloom During Odia Pakhya Festival

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has appealed to citizens to embrace traditional handloom attire during the ongoing Odia Pakhya festival.

Highlighting the cultural and economic importance of handloom, Majhi described it as “handwoven in the loom of tradition” and a symbol of Odia pride and heritage.

The CM emphasised that wearing handloom is not just a fashion choice but a collective effort to support local weavers and artisans.

He noted that the initiative would strengthen Odisha’s cultural identity while providing economic encouragement to the handloom sector.

The Odia Pakhya festival, celebrated from April 1 to 14, is a state‑sponsored cultural initiative aimed at reconnecting people with Odisha’s traditions and heritage.

Majhi urged citizens to participate actively, stating that such gestures enrich Odia culture globally and preserve the state’s pride for future generations.
