PURI, JULY 1(OT Webdesk): In the wake of the Saradhabali stampede that marred this year’s Rath Yatra festivities, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to visit Puri at 3 PM today.
This marks his first official engagement in the city following the tragedy that claimed multiple lives and exposed serious lapses in crowd control.
During the visit, CM Majhi will hold high-level discussions with servitors of the Shree Jagannath Temple, focusing on immediate and long-term policy reforms for ritual safety, crowd management, and infrastructure resilience.
Sources within the administration indicate that new operational guidelines may emerge based on today’s consultations.
The state government had earlier announced ex gratia compensation for the victims’ families and pledged sweeping structural reforms.
The Chief Minister is also expected to personally assess the implementation of these measures and ensure that spiritual tourism governance is fortified.
Public anticipation is high as citizens and devotees hope this visit will catalyse significant change in the temple administration and public safety planning during massive cultural events
