CM Majhi to Launch Second Phase of ‘Drugs-Free Bhubaneswar’ Campaign on October 2
Bhubaneswar: In a bold move to combat substance abuse and promote a healthier society, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the second phase of the “Drugs-Free Bhubaneswar” awareness campaign on October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.
The month-long initiative, spearheaded by the Excise Department, aims to foster drug-free communities across Odisha through grassroots engagement and multi-departmental collaboration.
Each gram panchayat will host a special meeting to address local drug-related issues, with top-performing villages receiving recognition and awards.
The campaign will also target drunk driving, illegal cannabis cultivation, and youth sensitisation through school and college competitions.
Departments including Health, Education, Transport, Sports, and Mission Shakti will conduct workshops, awareness drives, and public events.
NGOs and de-addiction centres will be mobilised to amplify outreach, while forest zones may be declared ‘Ganja-Free’ with incentives for enforcement officers.
The campaign’s slogan, “Not Drugs, But Life,” reflects the government’s commitment to building a safe, drug-free Odisha.
