Puri, June 22(OT Webdesk): As anticipation builds for the annual Rath Yatra, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a high-level meeting in Puri to assess the state’s readiness for one of the world’s largest religious congregations.
The session, held at the municipal council hall, emphasised interdepartmental coordination to ensure a spiritually fulfilling and safe experience for devotees.
Present were Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, senior bureaucrats, police officials, and local representatives.
Their discussions focused on sanitation, health infrastructure, transport systems, crowd control, and streamlined darshan protocols.
To strengthen surveillance, 275 AI-based CCTV cameras will monitor key areas, supported by drone patrols and Quick Response Teams.
A five-tier security grid manned by 10,000 personnel is being deployed, with the Coast Guard providing beachside safety.
Medical readiness includes 69 primary health centres, 64 ambulances, 265 extra beds, and a team of 378 doctors and paramedics, supplemented by specialists from AIIMS for emergency interventions.
Reaffirming the cultural and global significance of Rath Yatra, the CM said, “Our collective priority is to uphold Odisha’s legacy by ensuring safety, cleanliness, and efficient service delivery.”
