CM Majhi Launches Jagannath Darshan Yojana, Lays Foundation Stone for Nabarangpur Medical College
Nabarangpur, Feb 13: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for the district’s first government medical college at Patalguda, marking a historic step in healthcare expansion.
Spread across 50 acres, the institution will offer 100 MBBS seats and house a 420‑bed hospital, ensuring advanced medical facilities within the district.
On the same day, the CM launched the Shri Jagannath Darshan Yojana in Nabarangpur, enabling senior citizens and widows from economically weaker sections to visit Puri for darshan.
Beneficiaries will receive AC bus travel, accommodation at Brundabati Niwas, and Mahaprasad. The scheme aims to cover 5,000 pilgrims in 2026 and scale to over one lakh in four years.
Majhi also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 177 development projects worth Rs 446 crore, spanning education, healthcare, roads, bridges, hostels, forest protection, and Anganwadi centres.
Deputy CM Pravati Parida hailed the Darshan Yojana as the CM’s dream project, while Health Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling emphasised the state’s push for more medical colleges.
Tribal Affairs Minister Nityananda Gond praised the CM for fulfilling a decades‑old demand within 18 months of governance.
