CM Majhi: India–US Partnership to Transform Odisha’s Economy
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has underscored the transformative impact of the newly strengthened India–US strategic and trade partnership, asserting that it will significantly elevate Odisha’s position in the global economy.
Majhi emphasised that Odisha’s rich reserves of rare-earth minerals will play a pivotal role in the global semiconductor supply chain, positioning the state as a hub for advanced technological expertise.
He noted that the partnership will not only enhance industrial growth but also create new opportunities for skilled professionals in the technology sector.
The Chief Minister further highlighted the benefits for Odisha’s seafood industry, particularly shrimp and fish exports, which are expected to see a surge in demand due to tariff reductions.
This development, he said, will directly benefit coastal fishermen and farmers, strengthening Odisha’s contribution to the “blue economy.”
In addition, Majhi pointed out that Odisha’s traditional handloom and garment sector will gain easier access to international markets, creating employment opportunities for artisans and promoting the state’s cultural heritage globally.
“Odisha stands to benefit across minerals, seafood, and textiles, reinforcing its identity as a rising hub in international trade and technology,” Majhi remarked, stressing that the partnership will open new avenues for growth and prosperity.
