Bhubaneswar, June 21 (OT Webdesk): In a high-level review meeting held at Lok Seva Bhavan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi assessed the current status and containment efforts against the diarrhoea outbreak reported in six districts. Officials confirmed the situation is presently under control, with a steady decline in new cases.
The districts affected—Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Dhenkanal, and Keonjhar—have shown significant recovery, with most patients discharged and only a limited number under active treatment.
CM Majhi emphasised continued preparedness across both affected and vulnerable regions, urging authorities to maintain preventive action plans through Dussehra. Departments have been directed to maintain strict hygiene protocols, especially in schools and high-risk areas. Street food monitoring, water purification efforts, and gram-level health surveillance have been scaled up.
Out of 3,892 total diarrhoea cases, 3,543 have recovered. Only 254 remain under treatment as per government data.
The Chief Minister also commended the coordinated efforts of various departments—Health, Panchayati Raj, Urban Development, and Mission Shakti—while reinforcing grassroots awareness campaigns led by ASHA workers, anganwadi staff, and women SHGs.
