CM Majhi Charts Roadmap for Samruddha Odisha on Utkal Divas
Bhubaneswar, April 1: Odisha marked its 91st Foundation Day with vibrant celebrations across the state, as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi called for collective resolve to build a Samruddha Odisha.
Addressing the gathering, Majhi paid tribute to stalwarts like Madhusudan Das, Gopabandhu Das, and Krushna Chandra Gajapati, who spearheaded the creation of Odisha as India’s first language-based state in 1936.
The Chief Minister emphasised that true development must be rooted in cultural identity (Asmita) alongside material progress.
He highlighted recent achievements, including Odisha Police receiving the Rashtrapati Police Colours, infrastructure growth, women’s empowerment through Subhadra Yojana, and farmer support with fair paddy pricing and modern storage facilities.
Looking ahead, Majhi unveiled a vision for Odisha’s centenary in 2036, targeting a $500 billion economy and positioning Greater Bhubaneswar as a financial and technology hub.
Plans include an economic corridor from Puri to Paradip, expansion of tourism, new universities and medical colleges, and wider healthcare access under Ayushman Bharat.
The celebrations featured a photo exhibition on the formation of Utkal Province, the release of government magazines, the felicitation of competition winners, and cultural performances, underscoring Odisha’s rich heritage and ambitious future.
