
CM Majhi Announces Rs 4 Lakh Aid for Families of Odia Workers Killed in Andhra Quarry Tragedy
(OT Webdesk)Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has extended heartfelt condolences and financial aid to the families of six migrant workers from Ganjam and Gajapati districts who lost their lives in a devastating rockfall at the Satyakrishna granite quarry in Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla district.
The victims—Danda Badatya, Banamal Chera, Bhaskar Bisoi, Santosh Gouda, Takun Dalai, and Musa Jan—were working at the quarry when a blasting operation triggered a collapse, burying several under massive boulders.
Around 15–20 workers were present at the site, with eight critically injured individuals currently hospitalised in Narsaraopeta.
In a statement released on X, CM Majhi announced Rs 4 lakh in financial assistance per family from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena assured dignified repatriation of the bodies and directed district officials to coordinate with Andhra authorities for a thorough investigation.
The tragedy has sparked renewed concerns over migrant worker safety and quarry operation protocols in high-risk zones.
