Class X student gives birth during HSC exam in Jajpur, family seeks legal action

Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: In a shocking incident, a Class X student appearing for the High School Certificate (HSC) examination in Odisha’s Jajpur district gave birth to a baby girl while fasting on Maha Shivratri. The incident occurred on Wednesday under Ramachandrapur police limits.
The student, who had already appeared for two exam papers, suddenly fell ill and was rushed to Bari Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment. To the surprise of the medical staff, she went into labor and delivered a baby girl at the facility. As her condition worsened after childbirth, she was immediately referred to the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for advanced medical care.
Her family, shocked by the incident, has stated that they will seek legal action once she recovers. Authorities at the hospital have also alerted the police regarding the case.
Confirming the development, Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) of Jajpur DHH, AK Sharma, said, “The police will investigate the matter. She was supposed to appear for another exam today, but her condition required urgent medical attention. The hospital has informed the authorities, and necessary legal steps will follow.”
