Chiranjeevi Files FIR Over Deepfake Videos Targeting His Image
Hyderabad: Telugu superstar and Union Minister Chiranjeevi has lodged a formal complaint with Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police, alleging the circulation of obscene deepfake videos featuring his likeness.
The actor claims that certain websites have misused his name and photo to create AI-generated content that falsely depicts him in compromising scenes with women.
In his FIR, Chiranjeevi stated that the videos are entirely fabricated using artificial intelligence tools and are intended to malign his reputation.
He emphasised that the visuals are misleading and have caused him significant mental and social distress.
Acting on his complaint, police have registered a case under multiple sections of the IT Act, IPC, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
The actor has also demanded the immediate removal of the videos from all platforms and urged authorities to identify and penalise the culprits.
“This is not just a violation of privacy—it’s a calculated attack on my dignity,” Chiranjeevi said, calling for stronger regulations to curb the misuse of AI technologies in digital media.
The incident has sparked renewed debate around the ethical use of AI and the urgent need for legal safeguards against deepfake content in India.
