Chaos at Cuttack’s Bali Yatra Finale as Crowd Surges During Shreya Ghoshal Concert
Cuttack, Odisha – November 13, 2025: The 150th edition of the historic Bali Yatra festival ended in turmoil as a massive crowd surge during Bollywood singer Shreya Ghoshal’s live performance led to panic and injuries.
The incident occurred at the Baishnav Pani Mancha stage on the festival’s closing night, drawing thousands of fans eager to witness the grand finale.
Eyewitnesses reported intense pushing and shoving near the barricades as attendees jostled for a better view of the star performer. The situation escalated into a stampede-like scenario, resulting in at least two individuals fainting due to the overwhelming pressure. They were promptly evacuated by ambulance to a nearby medical facility.
To control the chaos, additional Commissionerate Police personnel were deployed. Authorities reportedly used mild lathi-charge tactics to disperse unruly sections of the crowd. While no fatalities or serious injuries have been confirmed, the incident has raised serious concerns about crowd management and safety preparedness at large-scale public events.
