CBI Raids AIIMS Bhubaneswar Over Recruitment Scam; Fake Certificates Seized

Bhubaneswar, August 8 (OT Webdesk)— The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched a sweeping raid at AIIMS Bhubaneswar and multiple other locations following allegations of a recruitment scam involving forged documents.

Sources reveal that an outsourcing agency allegedly facilitated fake certificates, enabling several individuals—including five members of one family—to secure permanent positions at the prestigious medical institute.

The accused, now in custody, reportedly helped three relatives become record clerks and two others sanitary inspectors.

A nine-member CBI team searched the academic block for nearly five hours, interrogating 27 staff members.

Additional raids at a Kalpana flat and in Jagatsinghpur led to the seizure of key documents believed to contain further evidence.

This marks the second major controversy for AIIMS Bhubaneswar in recent years.

A pharmacy tender scam in March 2023 and irregularities in a July 2023 recruitment drive had already drawn scrutiny.

Public outrage is mounting across Odisha, with citizens demanding stricter recruitment norms and transparency.

Social media platforms are flooded with calls for accountability, especially given the institution’s national stature.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar has yet to issue an official statement.
