CBFC Clears Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, Confirms No Link to Major Mohit Sharma
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially cleared Ranveer Singh’s upcoming spy-action thriller Dhurandhar, ruling out any connection to the life of Ashoka Chakra awardee Major Mohit Sharma.
The Delhi High Court had directed the CBFC to re-examine the film after Major Sharma’s parents raised objections, fearing that the storyline might mirror aspects of his life.
Following a fresh review, the Board concluded that Dhurandhar is entirely fictional, with no biographical or factual references to Major Sharma’s service or experiences.
The CBFC emphasised that all characters and events in the film are products of imagination, supported by a clear disclaimer stating that no real individuals are depicted.
As the film does not portray any actual officer or military operation, consultation with the Indian Army was deemed unnecessary.
Earlier, on November 28, 2025, the Examining Committee had already recommended adult certification with minor modifications.
After revisiting the matter under the High Court’s directive, the CBFC reaffirmed its original stance and completed the certification process.
During court proceedings, Justice Sachin Datta noted that the petitioners had not provided concrete evidence, as only the trailer was publicly available.
With the CBFC’s clearance now in place, Dhurandhar is set to move forward smoothly toward release.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal.
The Hindi-language spy thriller is one of the most anticipated Bollywood releases of the season.
