Virat Kohli One8 Commune Smoking Violation

( OT Webdesk)One8 Commune, the upscale pub and restaurant co-owned by cricketing star Virat Kohli, has landed in legal trouble yet again—this time for violating India’s anti-smoking regulations.

The Cubbon Park Police have registered a suo-motu case against the establishment for failing to maintain a designated smoking zone, as mandated under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003.

The restaurant faces action under Sections 4 and 21 of COTPA, which govern the prohibition of smoking in public places and the requirement for designated smoking areas.

A police official confirmed that the action was taken based on routine inspections where violations were observed. This incident adds to the establishment’s previous legal run-ins:

  • June 2024: Booked for operating beyond permissible closing hours.
  • December 2024: Issued a notice by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for failing to secure a Fire Department No Objection Certificate (NOC).

One8 Commune, part of a premium hospitality chain with outlets in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, is known for its elite ambience, diverse cuisine, and vibrant nightlife.

Authorities have reiterated the importance of compliance with public safety laws, stating that further violations could lead to harsher penalties
