Businessman Abducted for Rs 20 Lakh in Khurda; Five Arrested After Police Chase
Khurda, — In a dramatic late-night incident, a businessman from Balugaon was abducted and robbed of Rs 20 lakh by a gang of five, including an engineer.
The victim, Sushil Subudhi, was intercepted while returning home after closing his shop on Saturday night.
The accused—Suraj Dora (mastermind), Abhijeet Patnaik, Muna Behera (both from Ganjam), and Dharmaraj Palei and Chandan Jena (from Khurda)—forcibly dragged Subudhi into a car, snatched his cash and scooter, and fled the scene.
Following a missing person complaint filed by Subudhi’s wife, police launched a swift operation.
Checkpoints were set up along NH-16, leading to a high-speed chase and the arrest of all five suspects near Chandapur in Nayagarh district.
Authorities recovered Rs 6.5 lakh from the stolen amount and seized the vehicle used in the crime.
All accused are now in custody, and further investigation is underway.
