Brutal Knife Attack Leaves Balasore Youth Critically Injured in Suspected Loot Attempt
Balasore, Odisha — A young man from Banida village, Arun Rout, was left critically injured after a violent knife attack near NH-60 Jamalpur bypass in Jaleswar late Sunday night.
Rout, who was returning home from his hotel job, was ambushed by unidentified assailants who chased him down and stabbed him multiple times.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers fled the scene after stealing Rout’s mobile phone, cash, and ornaments. Locals discovered him bleeding profusely and rushed him to a nearby hospital.
Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred to the district headquarters hospital, where doctors confirmed multiple stab wounds but declared his condition stable.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
While robbery appears to be the primary motive, authorities are also probing possible personal enmity.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who are increasingly concerned about rising criminal activity along the NH-60 corridor, allegedly fueled by cross-border gangs operating between Odisha and West Bengal.
Local leaders and citizens are demanding increased patrolling and surveillance along vulnerable stretches of the highway to prevent further violence.
