Bhubaneswar,(Orissa today) Apr 1: In a solemn tribute to bravery and sacrifice, Havildar Raj Kishore Munda, a proud son of Nuagaon village in Keonjhar district, Odisha, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of his fellow citizens. Serving in the 6th Battalion of the Bihar Regiment, Munda tragically lost his life in a landslide incident in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, on March 29, 2025. His selfless act of trying to save a passenger bus during the calamity exemplifies his unwavering commitment to duty and humanity.
The mortal remains of Havildar Munda arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport on March 31, where Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi paid heartfelt floral tributes. The Chief Minister described Munda as a “true hero” and expressed deep condolences to his bereaved family. Munda’s funeral will be conducted with full state honors in his native village, ensuring that his sacrifice is remembered with the dignity it deserves.
Munda’s passing is not just a loss for his family but for the entire nation. His bravery and dedication serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless soldiers who protect the country under challenging circumstances.
