
Brave youth saves woman from drowning in flood waters of Kharasrota river
Kendrapara, Sep 10 (UNI) A woman was saved from drowning in the floodwaters of the Kharasrota River today, thanks to the courageous act of a local youth.
According to sources, the woman attempted suicide by jumping from the Gobindapur Bridge under the Aul police station limits.
As she was swept away by the strong currents of the Kharasrota, Sujit Mishra, a youth from Gobindapur village, displayed remarkable bravery by leaping into the river to rescue her,
risking his own life.
With great effort, Sujit managed to bring the woman safely to the riverbank. She was later rushed
to Gobindapur Primary Health Centre (PHC) for treatment by villagers.
When contacted, Sujit revealed that his younger sister had died by suicide a few days earlier after jumping from the same bridge into the Kharasrota River.
He said that when he saw the woman drowning, he could not hold back and immediately jumped into the swollen river to save her.
