Boulder Mishap Near Rayagada Halts Korba Express, Major Train Accident Averted

Rayagada,(OT webdesk)— A potentially devastating train accident was narrowly avoided late Thursday night when a massive boulder crashed onto the railway track near Majhigariani Temple, close to Rayagada town.

The Visakhapatnam-Korba Link Express was en route to Korba when the loco pilot reportedly heard a loud crash and swiftly applied emergency brakes, stopping the train just in time.

The train remained stranded for nearly five hours as railway rescue teams rushed to the site, cleared debris, and conducted emergency repairs.

Services on the affected route were suspended from midnight until 5 AM, causing ripple delays across schedules. Operations resumed on a single line after clearance.

Senior railway officials monitored the situation closely, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has launched a probe into the incident.
