Boudh Teachers Penalized for Absenteeism After Surprise Inspections
In a decisive move to enforce accountability in government schools, the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Harabhanga block in Odisha’s Boudh district has ordered a one‑day salary deduction for ten teachers across eight schools.
The disciplinary action followed surprise inspections on November 27, 2025, which uncovered serious lapses, including unauthorised absence, early departure without permission, failure to conduct scheduled assessments, and poor maintenance of lesson notes and teaching‑learning materials.
A formal office order issued by BEO Hadibandhu Behera listed the names of the erring teachers and directed headmasters to deduct one day’s salary from each and deposit the amount into the government treasury.
This step highlights the administration’s intent to strengthen discipline and ensure quality education in Odisha’s government schools, sending a clear message that negligence will not be tolerated.
