Bolangir Police Rescue 10 in Labour Trafficking Crackdown

In a swift and decisive operation, Khaprakhol police in Bolangir district successfully foiled an illegal labour trafficking attempt, rescuing ten labourers, including two children, near Badagurjibhata village.

The police intercepted a Bolero vehicle close to a petrol pump and arrested labour contractor Ghanshyam Sabar and driver Tawaseer Mohammad, who were attempting to transport the workers to Vijayawada.

Investigations revealed that the labourers had been recruited through illegal advances and lured with false promises, without any legal documentation.

All rescued victims hail from the Paikmal area of Nuapada district. The accused, both residents of Sukhalimunda village under Komna police station in Nuapada, were produced in court following their arrest.

The emergency operation was led by Station Officer Narendra Chhatar, whose timely intervention prevented the trafficking attempt.

Local residents praised the police action, calling it a strong step against the rising menace of illegal labour trafficking in Odisha.

Authorities have registered the case under station number 267/2025, and further investigation is underway.
