Bolangir: 18-Year-Old Girl Survives Brutal Attack
An 18-year-old girl in Bongomunda, Bolangir district, narrowly escaped death after being attacked by an unidentified assailant on Friday evening.
The incident occurred around 7 pm while she was lighting a fire for cooking.
According to police, the attacker struck her head with a glass bottle and attempted to slit her throat before fleeing the scene. Despite severe injuries, the girl managed to survive and was rushed to Bongomunda Hospital.
She was later shifted to Kantabanji hospital, where doctors provided primary treatment.
Local police registered case number 21/2026 and launched an investigation. Station Officer Sanjib Pradhan confirmed that all possible angles are being probed and efforts are underway to trace the attacker.
The shocking incident has sparked concern in the community, with residents demanding swift justice and stronger safety measures for women in the region.
