BMC–HDFC Bank MoU to Boost Affordable Housing Loans for EWS in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, October 19, 2025: In a landmark move to bolster inclusive urban development, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HDFC Bank to facilitate affordable housing loans for economically weaker sections (EWS) under the Affordable Housing Scheme.
The MoU was formalised in the presence of Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Minister of Housing & Urban Development, Mayor Sulochana Das, BMC Commissioner Chanchal Rana, and senior officials from HDFC Bank, including Arjunananda Bagh, Sushant Kumar Panigrahi, and Animesh Biswal.
Minister Mohapatra lauded HDFC Bank’s proactive role in financial inclusion and urged continued collaboration with the flagship housing schemes of both the State and Central Governments.
Mayor Das and Commissioner Rana emphasised BMC’s commitment to streamlining the loan facilitation process, ensuring smoother access for eligible beneficiaries.
HDFC Bank officials reiterated their dedication to social responsibility, highlighting the MoU as a strategic step toward empowering underserved communities through structured financial support.
The partnership marks a significant stride in Bhubaneswar’s vision to become a more inclusive and aspirational city, driven by coordinated public-private efforts.
