BMC Engineer Under Vigilance Scanner for Disproportionate Assets

Bhubaneswar(OT webdesk): Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday launched simultaneous raids at four locations linked to Jagannath Pattnaik, Executive Engineer of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), following allegations of possessing disproportionate assets.

Acting on credible intelligence and search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, teams led by six DSPs and ten Inspectors initiated early-morning searches at Pattnaik’s triple-storey residence in Badagada, a farmhouse in Ranapur (Khordha), his parental home in Gunupur (Rayagada), and his official chamber at the BMC office.

Officials are currently examining property records, bank statements, lockers, and other financial documents.

A detailed valuation of assets is underway to determine if Pattnaik’s wealth exceeds his known sources of income.

The operation is part of a broader crackdown on corruption and illicit asset accumulation. A comprehensive report is expected once the assessment concludes.
