BMC Commissioner Launches On-Ground Drive to Tackle Waterlogging in Bhubaneswar
(OT Webdesk)In a proactive move to address chronic waterlogging in Bhubaneswar, BMC Commissioner Chanchal Rana visited Panchasakha Nagar in Ward 64 on Thursday morning.
The visit marked a renewed push for field-level monitoring and public engagement during the monsoon season.
Commissioner Rana identified key infrastructural gaps and directed WATCO to begin corrective work on BT Road and the surrounding areas within 48 hours. A follow-up inspection is scheduled in a month to assess progress.
Beyond drainage issues, the inspection revealed encroachment and street lighting concerns.
Officials were instructed to resolve encroachments through dialogue and initiate beautification projects in select zones.
Emphasising the importance of community involvement, Rana called for active public participation to ensure sustainable urban development.
The visit included representatives from WATCO, BMC staff, local corporators, and residents.
