BJP Secures Historic Victory in Nuapada By-Election, CM Majhi Credits Grassroots Unity

In a landmark political moment for Odisha, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clinched a record-breaking victory in the Nuapada by-election, elevating its position from third place in the last general election to a dominant first.

BJP candidate Jay Dholakia secured a massive mandate amid unprecedented voter turnout, a result hailed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi as a triumph of collective effort and grassroots resilience.

Speaking at a Thanksgiving meeting, Majhi credited the “rare and devoted karyakartas” whose tireless work powered the campaign. He recalled past failures, including the absence of booth agents in earlier polls, and emphasised that lessons learned from those setbacks paved the way for this historic win.

The victory, dubbed “Operation Nuapada” by locals, was seen as a decisive rebuke to opposition parties. Both the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress accused the BJP of vote theft and rigging, but Majhi dismissed these claims as fear-driven misinformation.

He pledged personal responsibility for Nuapada’s development, promising swift action on irrigation, industrial projects, and local issues.

State BJP President Manmohan Samal praised the meticulous organisational strategy, likening elections to wars that require flawless battle plans.

Responsibilities cascaded from state leaders to panchayat workers, with ministers and MLAs ensuring the party’s achievements reached every doorstep.

Cross-border support from Chhattisgarh BJP leaders also played a crucial role.

As celebrations continue, the BJP views this victory as a harbinger of broader dominance in Odisha politics. Majhi assured that newly elected MLA Jay Dholakia will fulfil the aspirations of Nuapada’s people, while the party prepares to consolidate its momentum across the state.
