Bhubaneswar, (Orissa Today), June 7: The BJP’s legislative assembly will convene on Saturday to announce the new Chief Minister of Odisha. Speaking to the media in Bhubaneswar on Friday, newly elected BJP MLA Rabinarayan Nayak stated that all elected legislators of the party will gather in Bhubaneswar for the meeting.
Nayak emphasized that, in accordance with democratic principles, the legislative party will determine its leader who will assume governance. He added that the BJP’s parliamentary board, as previously announced by state president Manmohan Samal, will make the decision regarding the chief minister. The legislative party will then endorse the chosen name during Saturday’s meeting.
Meanwhile, newly elected MPs from Odisha departed for New Delhi on Friday to meet with the party’s central leadership. The BJP’s parliamentary board will convene subsequent to discussions between central leaders and party MPs from the state.
Reliable sources suggest that the saffron party’s parliamentary board is expected to meet on Friday night to finalize the new Chief Minister of Odisha. However, the name will remain undisclosed until it receives approval from the state legislative party.
It is noteworthy that the BJP secured a significant majority in the 147-member Assembly by winning 78 seats in the recently concluded elections. The party contested under the leadership of Narendra Modi without nominating a chief ministerial candidate.
