BJP Confident Ahead of Nuapada By-Election, Launches Tribal Outreach Strategy
Bhubaneswar, Oct 8: With the Nuapada by-election looming, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its campaign strategy in Odisha.
Vijay Pal Singh Tomar, the party’s state in-charge, expressed confidence in securing a win, citing strong organisational groundwork and upcoming leadership initiatives.
The BJP’s core committee is set to meet on October 9 to finalise its candidate, with several names under consideration. While speculation surrounds Manmohan Samal, Tomar clarified that no decision has been made yet. National leaders V. Satish and B.L. Santosh are actively touring the state and will participate in the strategic discussions.
In parallel, the party is launching a tribal leadership training camp led by Santosh and Satish. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and tribal MLAs and MPs will adopt 20–25 villages each as “model villages,” aiming to deepen grassroots engagement and constituency development.
Meanwhile, Odisha has witnessed a spate of safety-related incidents. A series of collisions near the Raksi railway crossing in the Sundargarh district has raised concerns over traffic safety.
In Bhubaneswar, tensions flared at the Tamando police station following a harassment complaint, resulting in an assault on police personnel and damage to a PCR van. Investigations are ongoing.
The BJP’s dual focus on electoral readiness and tribal empowerment signals a strategic push ahead of the Nuapada contest.
