BJD’s Jan Sampark Padayatra to Begin October 9 from Suando Village
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is set to launch its annual Jan Sampark Padayatra on October 9, deviating from its traditional October 2 start due to Dussehra holidays.
This year’s campaign holds symbolic significance as it kicks off from Suando village, the birthplace of Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das, aligning with his birth anniversary.
Announced by MLA Pramila Mallik, the padayatra will be inaugurated by BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The month-long outreach, running until November 9, will span every ward, block, panchayat, zilla parishad, urban area, and assembly constituency across the state.
Party sources indicate that the campaign will focus on door-to-door engagement, highlighting the achievements of the Naveen Patnaik-led government while critiquing the BJP-led central administration.
Key issues to be spotlighted include law and order concerns, women’s safety, erosion of democratic norms in panchayats, farmer neglect, youth and student challenges, inflation, and the marginalization of SC/ST/OBC communities.
The BJD aims to reinforce its people-centric governance narrative and mobilise grassroots support ahead of upcoming political milestones.
