BJD Withdraws Support to NDA’s Vice Presidential Candidate Amid Political Shift
(OT Webdesk)In a significant political development, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has announced it will not support the NDA-backed candidate in the upcoming Vice Presidential election.
Senior leader Mahesh Sahoo confirmed the decision, citing a lack of regional representation and a changed political climate.
“We’re not going to vote for the NDA-supported candidate in the Vice President election.
This is very clear,” Sahoo stated, referencing the party’s earlier support for the Presidential candidate from Odisha.
He dismissed speculation linking the move to controversies such as the Waqf Board issue, asserting that such matters were not under discussion.
This marks a notable shift in BJD’s stance, especially following the BJP’s recent formation of government in Odisha, ending BJD’s long-standing rule.
The BJP has yet to respond officially to the announcement.
