BJD Kicks Off Nuapada Bye-Election Campaign with Temple Visit and Tribal Outreach

Nuapada, Odisha — The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) launched its campaign for the Nuapada Assembly bye-election with a symbolic visit to the revered Banjari Devi Temple.

Led by senior leader Shri Debi Prasad Mishra and joined by candidate Smt. Snehangini Chhuria, the party sought divine blessings for peace and prosperity in the region.

Addressing a large public gathering, Chhuria pledged to accelerate Nuapada’s development and uphold the legacy of Biju Patnaik, who was instrumental in creating the district.

She reaffirmed the BJD’s commitment to inclusive growth under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik.

The campaign also featured a sharp critique of the BJP-led state government. BJD leaders accused the “double engine government” of causing “double destruction” over the past 16 months, citing failures in infrastructure and welfare delivery.

Prominent voices included Shri Abani Ranjan Joshi, Shri Adhiraj Mohan Panigrahi, and Shri Bhanu Pratap Singh Majhi.

Earlier in the day, the BJD hosted a Tribal Convention at Adivasi Samaj Bhawan in Tanuat, drawing large participation. Several tribal leaders from the BJP and Congress formally joined the BJD, endorsing its welfare initiatives.

Chhuria condemned rising violence and exploitation of tribal communities, especially in school hostels, and vowed to protect their dignity and rights.

The campaign saw support from key figures like Shri Pratap Jena, Shri Ramesh Majhi, and Smt. Sephanli Sharma, who rallied behind Chhuria’s candidacy. The BJD closed the day by urging voters to back its vision for stable governance and holistic development in Nuapada.
