BJD Issues Show‑Cause Notice to Two MLAs Over Absence from Crucial Meetings

Bhubaneswar, March 15: In a stern move to enforce party discipline, Odisha Legislative Assembly Chief Whip Pramila Mallik has issued show‑cause notices to two BJD MLAs for repeatedly skipping crucial meetings convened at Naveen Niwas.

Despite a whip mandating their presence, Chakramani Kanhar (Baliguda‑ST) and Naba Kishor Mallick (Jayadev‑SC) failed to attend, raising concerns over their commitment to party directives.

The MLAs have been directed to report to Naveen Niwas by 9:00 PM today.

The action underscores the BJD leadership’s emphasis on organisational discipline and accountability, particularly at a time when internal cohesion is vital.

Party insiders suggest that such measures are intended to send a strong message to legislators about adherence to instructions and the importance of collective responsibility.
