Biramitrapur Residents Stung in Sudden Bee Attack, Demand Urgent Action

Biramitrapur in Sundargarh district witnessed chaos when a swarm of honeybees attacked more than ten people near the Old Police Station area.

The bees, which had long nested in a large tree, suddenly turned aggressive and stung passersby without provocation.

The injured were rushed to the government hospital, where they received treatment and were later discharged.

With the Gupteswar Mela approaching—a major fair expected to draw thousands—locals fear the situation could worsen if the hives remain undisturbed.

Residents have urged the district administration, municipal authorities, and forest officials to act swiftly.

They are demanding that professional beekeepers or pest control experts safely remove or relocate the hives before the festival begins, to prevent further incidents.
