Bhubaneswar Road Repair Plan: Odisha Govt Announces ₹150 Crore Overhaul
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced a major road repair and development plan worth Rs 150 crore to tackle the city’s worsening road conditions.
Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan revealed that the initiative includes a pothole-free program across 45 km of major roads, with concrete and asphalt work already underway in stretches such as Nayapalli–Kalinganagar, Jayadev Vihar, and Sahid Nagar.
The minister also confirmed that the long‑awaited Bhubaneswar Ring Road Project will begin within a month, connecting Baranga, Jatani, and Khordha.
Tenders have been floated, and a detailed project report has been prepared. To ensure transparency, QR codes will be introduced for all roads, enabling real‑time monitoring.
Drainage systems will be upgraded before the monsoon to prevent waterlogging, while potholes will be filled to reduce accidents and traffic congestion.
Rajnagar MLA Dhruba Charan Sahoo welcomed the plan but urged strict monitoring of quality and deadlines. Citizens, meanwhile, await visible improvements on the ground.
