Bhubaneswar, March 27: Panic gripped the Jagamara market complex on Friday morning after a fire broke out inside a restaurant.
According to preliminary reports, the blaze was triggered by negligence in handling a traditional wood‑fired stove used for cooking.
Fire services from Tamando Fire Station responded swiftly, deploying two fire tenders and 14 firefighters to the site.
Their timely intervention prevented the flames from spreading to nearby shops and offices within the busy commercial hub.
Although the incident sparked fear among traders and customers, no casualties were reported.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause and assess safety measures in the market complex.
