Bhubaneswar, Feb 13: Bhubaneswar recorded its highest temperature of the season on Thursday, with the mercury soaring to 35°C in the afternoon. The state capital registered 35°C at 2:30 PM, as confirmed by senior meteorologist Umasankar Das in a post on X.
This rise in temperature comes a day after Odisha witnessed a maximum of 37°C, with Jharsuguda being the hottest at 37°C. Other districts also recorded high temperatures, including Bhadrak (36.2°C), Balangir (36°C), Angul (35.7°C), Bhawanipatna (35.5°C), Titilagarh (35.5°C), Parlakhemundi (35.5°C), Sonepur (35.3°C), Malkangiri (35.2°C), and Bargarh (35.2°C). Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack reported 34.8°C and 33.2°C, respectively.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a gradual drop in nighttime temperatures across Odisha, with a decline of 2-3°C expected over the next two days. Following this period, no significant change is anticipated. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog may form in the early morning hours on Friday and Saturday in one or two locations in North Coastal Odisha.
As Odisha transitions towards summer, weather experts advise people to take precautions against rising temperatures and fluctuating weather conditions.
