Bhubaneswar Prepares for Lingaraj Ashokastami Rath Yatra 2026
The sacred city of Bhubaneswar is preparing for the grand Lingaraj Ashokastami Rath Yatra, scheduled to take place on March 26, 2026, with the Bahuda Yatra (return journey) on March 30, 2026.
The rituals will begin in the early hours with Mangala Alati and Abakasha, followed by Sahana Mela Darshan.
The Yatra Puja will be performed between 10:15 and 10:45 AM, leading to the ceremonial Pahandi, chariot puja, horse yoking, and opening of the Charamala.
The much‑awaited Ratha Tana (chariot pulling) will commence at 2:30 PM.
A coordination meeting chaired by Khordha District Collector Amrit Ruturaj outlined responsibilities for various departments.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will oversee sanitation, illumination, floral decoration, and drinking water distribution.
WATCO will provide water supply, road washing, and tankers for the procession. Other departments will ensure fire safety, power supply, road repairs, and law and order.
Ekamra‑Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh urged all stakeholders to work together for a disciplined and grand celebration.
Temple officials, Nijoga representatives, and district administrators pledged full cooperation to ensure the smooth execution of the festival.
With meticulous planning and community participation, Bhubaneswar is set to witness one of its most significant spiritual events in a safe and festive atmosphere.
