Bhubaneswar Police Seize 400g Brown Sugar in Major Raid

In a decisive strike against the narcotics trade, the Special Crime Unit of the Bhubaneswar‑Cuttack Commissionerate seized 400 grams of brown sugar during a targeted operation near Lingaraj Road Railway Station on November 16, 2025.

Acting on reliable intelligence inputs, police intercepted suspects engaged in drug transactions, leading to the arrest of Sk Akbar (29) from Balasore district.

Authorities recovered a mobile phone and Rs 620 in cash from the accused. However, the prime suspect, Sk Sadik Mohammad (30), remains absconding and is the focus of ongoing investigations.

The case, registered under Sections 21(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act, aims to dismantle the broader supply chain, financial networks, and criminal links associated with brown sugar trafficking in the Twin City.

Police emphasised their commitment to community safety and urged citizens to report suspicious narcotics activities to the Special Crime Unit at 0674‑2916383 (10 AM–8 PM), assuring complete confidentiality.

This seizure marks a significant step in curbing illegal drug networks in Bhubaneswar, reinforcing the Commissionerate’s determination to protect public health and uphold justice.
