Bhubaneswar Minor Girl Found Injured at Capital Hospital; Sexual Assault Suspected

Bhubaneswar, October 18: A 17-year-old girl was discovered in a bloodied and semi-conscious state at Bhubaneswar’s Capital Hospital late Friday night, prompting police to suspect sexual assault.

The girl reportedly arrived at the hospital on her own, seeking urgent medical attention.

Doctors at the hospital observed serious injuries and alerted the Capital police outpost. Preliminary findings suggest the possible administration of a contraceptive pill, which may have worsened her condition.

She is currently under medical care and unable to provide a coherent statement due to trauma.

Police have registered a suo motu case and launched a detailed investigation. Efforts are underway to collect CCTV footage and witness accounts from the surrounding area.

Investigators believe the girl may belong to a nomadic trading community from Bihar, temporarily residing in Bhubaneswar’s Laxmisagar locality. No missing person complaint has been filed so far.

Authorities are working to trace her family and identify potential suspects. The girl remains under close medical supervision, and her formal statement will be recorded once doctors confirm she is stable.
