Bhitarkanika officials rescue 8.2-foot crocodile from village pond

Kendrapara, Aug 26 (UNI) Forest personnel of Bhitarkanika National Park rescued an 8.2-foot-long estuarine crocodile from a village pond in Gupti, under Rajnagar block.

The crocodile was captured with the help of a fishing net from the pond belonging to Rabindra Mohanty of Gupti village.

Forest officials said the saltwater crocodile might have strayed from nearby water bodies.

The reptile was later released into Gupti’s Habali creek.
