Bharat Bandh on February 12: Banks, Schools, and Transport Services to Face Disruption

A nationwide strike called by ten central trade unions and farmers’ organisations is set to take place on February 12, 2026.

The Bharat Bandh, supported by groups such as CITU, AITUC, INTUC, HMS, and Samyukt Kisan Morcha, aims to protest against the new labour codes and the India–US trade deal, which unions claim will weaken workers’ rights and harm domestic agriculture.

The strike is expected to cause widespread disruption across India. Banking services will be heavily affected, with cheque clearances, cash deposits, and withdrawals likely to stall as employees’ unions join the protest.

Schools and colleges in several states may suspend classes, while transport services could face road blockades and train stoppages. Shops and markets in protest‑hit areas are also expected to remain closed.

Organisers estimate participation from nearly 30 crore workers across 600 districts, surpassing the July 2025 mobilisation of 25 crore.

Farmers, industrial labourers, and student groups have pledged support, making this one of the largest coordinated strikes in recent years. Emergency services such as hospitals and ambulances will remain operational.
