Bhadrak Ignites with Devotion as Historic Kali Puja Begins

Bhadrak,  October 20, 2025 — The historic Kali Puja celebrations in Bhadrak commenced today with grandeur, devotion, and cultural vibrancy. From the revered Maa Bhadrakali Peeth to the bustling mandaps of Charampa, the town is immersed in spiritual fervour and festive lights.

Preparations began days in advance, with elaborate decorations, idol installations, and ritual arrangements.

The seven-day festival will witness worship of the goddess in seven divine forms—Saptamatruka Besha—drawing lakhs of devotees to the region.

The ceremonial Kalash was brought from the Salandi river ghat, marking the formal start of rituals. Temple committees and the district administration have collaborated to ensure smooth conduct of the puja, with security and crowd management in place.

Historic peeths like Maa Patharakali (300 years old), Maa Dakshina Kali (20 years), and Pidludia Kali Puja (102 years) continue their legacy with renewed zeal.

Local puja committees such as Charampa School Road, Basanti Durga Puja, and others have completed their preparations, including toran setups and idol installations.

Adding to the festive spirit are nine opera troupes, Meena Bazaar, Ram Doli, and circus attractions, transforming Bhadrak into a cultural hotspot. Police and administrative teams are on high alert to maintain peace and order throughout the celebrations.

As Bhadrak glows with devotion and celebration, the Kali Puja stands as a testament to the town’s enduring spiritual heritage and community spirit.
