(OT Webdesk)In a significant push toward inclusive urban development, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on Tuesday allotted homes to 38 slum dwellers through a transparent lottery system under its Affordable Housing Projects (AHP) and In-situ Slum Redevelopment (ISSR) schemes.
The allotment ceremony, held at the BDA office, saw 24 beneficiaries receive units in Barunei Enclave AHP (Subudhipur), 9 under Santi Nagar Awas Yojana (Keshari Residency), and 5 under Nilamadhab Awas scheme (Chandrasekharpur).
Each beneficiary will contribute Rs 1.50 lakh to secure their flat under the AHP scheme.
The process was overseen by Independent Observer Dr. Susama Barik, ensuring transparency as beneficiaries picked tokens from a clear box.
BDA Vice-Chairman Dr. N. Thirumala Naik emphasised the agency’s mission to uplift marginalised communities by providing not just shelter, but access to essential infrastructure and services.
This initiative marks a transformative step in relocating slum populations into formal housing, aiming to enhance dignity, safety, and quality of life for Bhubaneswar’s urban poor.
