Baripada Gas Cylinder Explosion at Sitakund Picnic Spot Leaves Balloon Seller Critically Injured
Baripada – Panic gripped visitors at the popular Sitakund picnic spot in Baripada on Sunday evening after a gas cylinder explosion left a balloon seller critically injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred while the vendor was filling balloons with gas. The cylinder suddenly burst with a deafening blast, destroying the cylinder and the bicycle he used for his trade.
The explosion sent shockwaves across the area, forcing hundreds of tourists to rush to safety.
The injured man, identified as Seru Singh of Sunagadia, Baripada, suffered severe head injuries and collapsed at the site. Local youths quickly transported him to Baripada Medical College and Hospital.
Due to the seriousness of his condition, doctors later referred him to SCB Medical College, Cuttack, for advanced treatment.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blast and whether safety norms were violated in handling the cylinder.
Authorities are expected to release further details as the inquiry progresses.
This incident has raised fresh concerns about safety measures at public tourist spots, especially where vendors use hazardous equipment in crowded areas.
