Bargarh Girl’s Tragic Death Sparks Outrage; Naveen Patnaik Slams BJP Govt

(OT Webdesk)Odisha’s Leader of Opposition, Naveen Patnaik, has condemned the BJP-led state government following the tragic death of a minor girl from Gaesilat, Bargarh, who reportedly died by suicide after setting herself on fire.

In a heartfelt post on X, Patnaik expressed deep sorrow and described the incident as “deeply disturbing,” highlighting it as the fourth such case in a month.

Patnaik emphasised that these are not isolated events but part of a troubling pattern of young girls dying under tragic circumstances.

He accused the BJP administration of fostering an unsafe environment for Odisha’s daughters, citing systemic failures and government inaction.

“The traumatic silence and inaction from the BJP Govt leave the daughters of Odisha more vulnerable,” Patnaik stated, demanding immediate intervention and stronger protective measures.

The incident has triggered widespread concern across the state, with citizens and activists calling for mental health support, justice for victims, and robust safeguards against gender-based violence.
