Bargarh Cholera Outbreak 2026: 19 Infected, Three Critical in Goudpali
Bargarh: A cholera outbreak has struck Goudpali village under Kansinga panchayat in Padmapur subdivision, infecting 19 residents since March 3.
Among the patients are 12 women, six men, and a 10‑year‑old child. Three remain in critical condition, while 16 others are being treated at home.
Health workers reported that the outbreak began with a few cases before spreading rapidly. Local ASHA workers initially distributed ORS and medicines, but infections continued to rise.
In response, Jharsuguda CHC dispatched a three‑member medical team to examine the situation and provide medicines to affected families.
Villagers have demanded stronger medical intervention, urging authorities to send a full team of doctors to identify the source of the outbreak and ensure treatment for all residents.
Officials confirmed that investigations are underway, though the exact cause remains unclear.
