Barbil Police Foil Dacoity Plot in Soyabali Jungle, Four Arrested with Weapons
Barbil, (Keonjhar):— In a decisive midnight operation, Barbil police thwarted a planned dacoity in the Soyabali jungle, arresting four suspects and seizing weapons and other incriminating materials.
According to police sources, Barbil police received intelligence on December 2 that a group of criminals was consuming alcohol and conspiring to commit a robbery inside an abandoned house in the Soyabali forest.
Acting swiftly, a patrolling team raided the location around 1:40 a.m. on December 3.
During the raid, one suspect managed to escape under the cover of darkness, but four others were apprehended. The arrested individuals have been identified as Avinash Nag, Mukunda Sandil, Naresh Pingu, and Pradeep Biswas, all residents of the Joda police station area.
From the scene, police recovered:
– Five empty beer bottles
– Two packets of chilli powder
– One matchbox
– Two sharp-edged bhujalis
– Five used disposable glasses
– One country-made pistol
A case has been registered at Barbil Police Station under Case No. 448 dated 03.12.2025, invoking sections 310(4)/310(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 25 of the Arms Act. Efforts are underway to trace the absconding accused.
Local residents have lauded the police for their prompt action, noting that such operations send a strong message to criminal elements and restore public confidence in law enforcement.
