Barbil Police Crack Down on ₹7 Lakh Worth of Illegal Manganese Transport: Truck Seized, Two Arrested

Barbil( OT Webdesk): Barbil Police demonstrated their vigilance and commitment to law enforcement yet again with a swift operation targeting illegal mineral transport. On May 4, 2025, at 1 PM, Barbil Police Station In-Charge, IIC Ashok Kumar Nayak, received intelligence that a truck (OD 09 B 0326) was transporting illegally mined manganese from Rugudhi to Bhadrashi.

Acting promptly, Mr. Nayak and his team set up a roadblock at Tonto to intercept the vehicle.

Within moments, the suspect truck arrived, and the police successfully apprehended the driver and his helper. Raids were conducted to capture other suspects involved, but they managed to escape.

The police arrested Nu Gudiya (28) resident of Serenda under Barbil Police Station, and Ravindra Nayak (34), who resides in Kunduripani under Rugudi Police Station in Keonjhar District.

Seized Items:
The police seized a truck, bearing registration number OD 09 B 0326, loaded with approximately 45 metric tons of illegal manganese, which has an estimated market value of around ₹7 lakh.

Additionally, authorities confiscated two mobile phones: a Realme 12x 5G and an Itel device.

This decisive operation by the Barbil Police marks a significant step in curbing illegal mining and mineral theft in the region. The proactive stance of law enforcement officials continues to instil fear among criminals while reinforcing their commitment to upholding law and order.
